Literally, a smart
watch is used as a wristwatch. It is a
computing device that is worn on the user’s wrist. With a glance, it offers
clock accuracy and also allows you to read your text messages on a device which
is always at the hand. The smartwatch technology
was first developed by Microsoft and is called “SPOT” (Smart Personal Object
Technology). Its functionality and capabilities are much similar to a PDA
(Personal Digital Assistant) or a Smartphone. The model of smart watch is designed either to
function on its own or when used along with a Smartphone. The earlier models
of smart watches were
designed to perform basic tasks such as playing games, calculations, or
translations but the modern smart
watches are embedded with the most advanced technologies. The

year 2013 is measured as the “year of the smart watch” as the mechanism in it have turned out to be dense

In
the future, Smartphones might be replaced by affordable smart watches, since Wi-Fi and
cellular radios will be included. This means the users can make and receive
calls or even send messages directly via their smart watch without
the need to carry around a phone. They may also allow the users to unlock their
car doors or set their house alarm if required.
Since

customizable, it allows the runners, cyclists, and others to download specific
applications suited to their needs. For example, Golfers can download a GPS
Range Finder app which will give easy access to the course (golf) information.
